Your 20’s, 1920’s - Atonement Emerald Dress
Atonement was one of those movies you watched, and didn’t stop thinking about until you fell asleep at night. The cinematography was gorgeous - a really honest and gritty portrayal of society and war and the tangled web they weave. Amongst all of that, the charmeuse emerald dress worn by Kiera Knightley was voted the best film costume of all time. Coming in second were Marilyn Monroe’s dress from The Seven Year Itch, and Audrey Hepburn’s black dress with pearls from Breakfast At Tiffany’s - not a small feat.
Favorite Forever 21’s version is the 20’s turned 00’s. That shift, drop waist silhouette the decade was known for, and the flapper-esque feather broach - is what Cecilia Tallis would wear today. That color - you can’t say enough about that color. Luckily, this dress was not auctioned off for $46,000.

OMG!!! You are so right! I think I might pick that up for holiday parties this year…my Gram will feel right at home too, having worn things in that style back in her hay day! I’m feeling a nice, black elbow length glove too. Do you think that would go well?

That headpiece is fabulous - I’m thinking that might be a great New Years piece - acceptable for that kind of party!
