This is just what I need right now - newness! I’m over the latest diffusion news - and although I have no idea what the price point for this new line is, I am so happy to see an innovative and fresh approach by Adidas. SLVR is Adidas’ new venture into a premiere collection of futuristic shapes made from eco-friendly textiles and processes. The blue tee above is made leaving no waste behind, cut from one piece of fabric, with no seams! And the shoes - traditionally made from 25-30 pieces, are rather made from 6 and are stitched together instead of using harmful glue - which extends the life span of your purchase slash happiness.

What drew me to the new Adidas SLVR line wasn’t the environmentally conscious part of me though (as much as I’d love that) - I really just couldn’t resist the silhouettes. It was as though Stella 2.0 went in there and transitioned her tennis line into wearable street clothes. Although this is not at all an athletic line, traditional details like drawstring waists, lightweight fabrics, and mesh comprise the collection to make it sporty couture, like Y3 but so much more chic. Now if only I still lived in New York…

Stores: New York, Beijing, Moscow, Paris, Miami, Berlin

Everyone else - check it online and find a friend in New York or Miami to do you a favor! Adidas SLVR.

It’s now officially spring in Texas - which for most is summer type temps - we’re at 80 about every day now! So, with the nice weather comes some much needed showers, and a much needed excuse to invest in a cute rain jacket. When I was at Target this weekend “styling” some friends with the new McQueen - I fell in love with probably the most outrageous looking outerwear on the planet - a flourescent yellow, transparent, short rain coat. It was adorable, but it really only rains 5 minutes a year here - so it would be best suited for those in say - Seattle, Portland, London who could rock it more than once.

I loved how it had that 70’s, “Now and Then” vibe - and I forget her name but I swear the pudgy girl character in the movie ran around in a pink one, while everyone’s parents chose plastic to cover their furniture instead of bodies. As transparency has been such a big trend in the Fall 09 shows thus far - I am just waiting for these to hit more fast fashion chains. I would buy one in every hue - pink, blue, and green! Finish off the look with a complimentary pair of Hunter rain boots (worthwhile investment), and a sweet transparent bubble umbrella to keep the wind from turning you inside out, and you’ll actually look forward to trudging to work in the less than desirable weather.

I didn’t initially latch on to this trend when Ralph Lauren first showed harem pants for Spring - but something just clicked this week and it’s all I’ve been shopping for. Harem pants have a Middle Eastern origin of course - but this isn’t the first time they’ve seen the catwalk. In the teens and 20’s, Paul Poiret was the first designer to utilize the vast source of inspiration that is the Middle East - and is infamous for his caftans, turbans and of course - harem pants.  There’s a lot of hesitation to jump on this bandwagon because most gal’s just don’t think it’s feminine or attractive.  I can see that - but at the end of the day it’s how you carry yourself.  Pair it with a fitted top, gold bangles, a killer gladiator - and a lightweight knit or silk pant will flow and fall against your silhouette giving your look movement it wouldn’t usually have.  I guess that’s the Marni in me though - who dresses for men?

A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E. Unfortunately a lil pricey for my 24 year old salary. So - I feel a DIY coming on. All you’ll really need is a sweet pair of rope wedges - with some kind of mechanism - strap, covered toe, to glue a pretty bud onto. Just remember to use fabric glue if on canvas - or you could go the even quicker route and buy a flower pin to attach. Easy peasy.

A bralette is technically a bra, gasp! If you go shopping around online for one - rarely will you find a detailed, more conservative version that you’ll need to achieve the bralette look. I first recognized this piece back in FIT, I had to do some sort of presentation on Prada and it must have been circa 2001 shows that I went back to - where she showed the high waisted circle skirts and midriff baring coordinating tops. Some also might recognize the look from the Sex and the City episode where Carrie gets stood up at Il Cantinori for her birthday. The actual aesthetic stems from the 50’s with the high waists again, but instead of bra tops - think knotted shirts, very Beach Boys - showing just a sliver of skin. I love this look for the daring - pair it under an open front or low cut top for evening - or have it peak through a boyfriend cardigan on the weekend. If that’s still too much - layer on some heavy chains or a sweet neck scarf to complete the look and downplay the bust. My goal is to cut up some old H&M bustier type bralettes that I used to throw under wrap dresses - and instead tie a boyish collared shirt over it with some tailored shorts for the present. Peggy Sue who?
