One of my favorite magazines in the world is Missbehave mag - because they feature the raddest stuff. Take this shoe for example. One would never think it’s by Jessica Simpson’s shoe line. I say Jessica Simpson lightly because we all know who really does the designing for celebrity lines, so I’ll retract because I’m sure it’s a very talented shoe designer and not Jess. I am not a fan of her - one of my old roommates during college, who shall remain nameless, used to hang pictures of her on our fridge so that she would eat smart (at least this is what I interpreted). So, it was like a Pavlovian response to hate Jessica Simpson 3 times a day.
Regardless, these shoes are bangin’ - that heeeeel could grate cheese, I would love to threaten cat callers on the street with those babies. It’s not an expensive line, but it’s not entirely budget friendly either - featured killer shoes going for around $150. Eh, if only it didn’t have her name on them, that talented design team needs to take their work elsewhere!

Express is definitely doing a bit of a Nine West in terms of elevating their assortment. Caroline Trentini has been in their new ads, and the pieces are much more fashion forward (less Long Island) - bubble dresses, painted prints - feels a bit more Top Shop or H&M. It used to be all about the editor pant - in my opinion the poor man’s Theory (I’m poor, no offense) - but I hate business casual so that never worked for me.
Thank goodness my PA editor scoped out this great promotion - buy one get one 50% off ANYTHING (even winter coats, which you know don’t usually start going on sale until January). Take advantage of the slagging economy and help stimulate retail at the same time - because we really need it. When you see sales like this, you know they’re not as concerned about making money (margin) as much as just staying afloat - and we don’t want Express to go away now that it got so much more cute!

Noir has got to be insanely innovative costume jewelry if it’s in Vogue next to the likes of Tom Binns, with an average selling price of $60! SO happy I read up on this brand so soon after the Erickson Beamon post - it’s such a viable and envious alternative - it blows Kenneth Jay Lane away in so many ways. At least with Noir you aren’t buying exact Kate Spade replicas for over $100 - yeah, you know I’m talking about those awful encrusted strawberry necklaces! Oh - and did I mention they did a line for Patricia Field? Definite seal of approval.

Re-post: Keep your fingers crossed, tonight is the night!!

Just got my absentee ballot in the mail yesterday - and I need to overnight it asap in order to partake in some crooked voting - as Texas is obvi a red state.
Right on cue, I had a friend introduce me to (Miami based) Paul Jacober Obama tees. He designs a slew of graphic tees & hoodies (a much chic-er version of Christian Audigier) that all have an effortless & smart vibe about them - which makes them perfect to wear even after the election. And if Obama doesn’t win, I would wear this every day in pure mourning/protest.

End Note: I can’t go into too much about Sarah Palin - it hurts my brain. So, I’m just going to post this article & pic - and let you decide what you’d rather be wearing. (And yes, she is wearing donkeys that say “vote”)

This may very well be the cutest perfume packaging ever (and we all know it’s ALL about the packaging). I just ran out of Miss Dior Cherie - and now in dire need of a girly scent (I’ve been using travel size to stave off procrastination). I always wondered how Sephora.com exactly worked - one would think you would need to try out makeup, lotions, or perfumes in real time to truly know what you’re buying. Luckily for ecomm, Harajuku Lovers lists personality types for each perfume (great gift giving) - and to cite the Gwen barbie above, the style is “Tropical, Sunny, & Distinctive”. Everything Gwen touches turns to Gold.

Just because you switch your wardrobe from Summer to Fall, doesn’t mean you should edit out anything that isn’t a dark hue. I’ll speak in respect to all dark colors (navy, brown, etc), but I LOVE black - I was in New York long enough to learn that it is the easiest way to pull off chic. It can get boring though - just like wearing the same winter coat every day wears on you - bringing a splash of color into your wardrobe mix will help with that awful feeling of exiting the office after daylight savings kicks in.

JCrew is one of the best resources for a multitude of vibrant hues. I’m not really in the market to buy cashmere, as I’m still charging bottles of wine, but an inexpensive tee under a cardigan (merino, angora), or cotton knit turtleneck with a high waisted pencil skirt comes off just as bright. Keep in mind that not all pigments are pleasing - think jewel tones (fuchsias, emeralds, royals) & Citrus (limes, oranges) - no pastels or muddied tones. An even easier way is to invest in a few vivid scarves to switch up every day - (Chinatown pashmina’s go for a crazy $5). With all of the overcast, snow, and cold temps - somebody has to keep it real and GLOW.
