At two different, ridiculously cheap price points this time!  Really, it comes down to whether you’d like two layers of fringe or one - or if you want to stick to the replica brown suede, or head in an evergreen, berry, or black direction (available in both twinsies).  Booties like these go well with not only tights and a boho dress, but a pair of Levi’s skinny jeans & a skimpy top - I’m talking rocker skinny, where it’s essentially a legging in denim form.  I can’t stand where the jean starts to get baggy around the knee - when it’s tight around the knee that’s when it looks Baby Shambles - esque.  And when wearing below fringe booties - this is all the fringe you need.  I often have to choose between my fringe bag and shoes when putting together an outfit, and no matter how difficult it is to choose which to highlight, they should always be kept separate to avoid that Stevie Nicks aesthetic.  Totally unfortunate.  What’s also unfortunate is that I’ve been seeing various forms of this studded fringe ankle bootie even before the Fall 08 Gucci show.  I love the looks and it was a huge movement for Fall, but this is definitely a trend that moved from the streets to the tents, which a lot of designers have really been identifying with (i.e. Marc Jacobs and Murakami, Stephen Sprouse).  So - at least we can all think we have a little bit of an impact on the world of fashion by just being ourselves.

One of my favorite girls here in Austin was wearing these L.A.M.B. shoes last night - and looked killer - but I had the sinking suspicion that I had seen them somewhere before. Turns out that the knockoff of these shoes (which are in their current season priced at $319) are on that crazy Ami Clubwear site I frequently feature shoes from - and did just so in the post “Dressing Under $100 (Completely) For All Of The Above”

They are even so distinctly similar down to the zipper trim detail on the rosette. I would say the only dis-similarity is that the L.A.M.B. shoes are matte leather, and the knockoffs are patent. Minor detail in comparison to the gross savings of $296, I am making a purchase as we speak (read/type)!

Now that I’m in my twenties, I feel like I hear about an engagement every 5 seconds (more often in the South) or (luckily) there’s always somewhere to go where you can get dressed up. The holidays are coming up (I never participate in ugly sweater parties, I dress up anyway) and as you know come Spring it’s wedding fever, so you have to be prepared. That doesn’t mean spending $300 a pop on dresses, because I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing the same one twice - and at that price you definitely would . Once you’re the best dressed one there (out-shining the bride not included), just don’t get too juiced up and do anything I wouldn’t do.

I dream of the day when my shoes will have their own home and won’t be hanging on some rickety fixture on the back of my door. My man has to adjust it about every month to make sure it doesn’t collapse – like it did many a time in our tiny New York apt. Anyway, the point here is that I don’t have a walk in closet and it is NOT full of Louboutins.

I have only splurged once on shoes: During a visit home (Philly has great outlet venues) at the Neiman Marcus Last Call – I bought a pair of Chanel ballet flats – totally necessary and justifiable, but a little different with clear plastic sides and patent black toes. To this day they are absolutely unbearable to walk in, but worth it to pass down to future gens – only $150 (regularly $600)!

So, you can imagine the thrill of the hunt when I discovered these two very affordable and “interpretation”- friendly sites for shoes. AmiClubwear.com & GoJane.com, which offer zillions of styles - most for $30 or less. Balenciaga, Prada, & Dior “interpretations” – are very close replicas aesthetically, just obviously made of less pricey materials. Now that I’m in the thick of car culture, I’m more willing to opt for these more economical shoes - as I don’t have to hike up subway stairs or dodge cabs anymore!

All shown are under $25, and all from Amiclubwear.com - excluding killer Sex and the City Dior-esque gladiators, from GoJane.com (Free Shipping over $50 for both, fabulous).
