I didn’t initially latch on to this trend when Ralph Lauren first showed harem pants for Spring - but something just clicked this week and it’s all I’ve been shopping for. Harem pants have a Middle Eastern origin of course - but this isn’t the first time they’ve seen the catwalk. In the teens and 20’s, Paul Poiret was the first designer to utilize the vast source of inspiration that is the Middle East - and is infamous for his caftans, turbans and of course - harem pants.  There’s a lot of hesitation to jump on this bandwagon because most gal’s just don’t think it’s feminine or attractive.  I can see that - but at the end of the day it’s how you carry yourself.  Pair it with a fitted top, gold bangles, a killer gladiator - and a lightweight knit or silk pant will flow and fall against your silhouette giving your look movement it wouldn’t usually have.  I guess that’s the Marni in me though - who dresses for men?

Too much for words. I dream of dressing my future children up in Ramones tees and tutus, but this evokes the same kind of feelings as when you see those poor dogs in booties - sad and self-fulfilling. As much as I think these kids look ridiculously aspirational and fashion forward, there is definitely a crazy Milf out there charging her credit card for the orange fur hat and red jodhpurs as we speak. I think the farthest I would go is a faux hawk. Babies have their whole lives to grow back hair, no biggie!

Shop baby pageantry (sorry!) @ Ralph Lauren

This is so Serena (Gossip Girl) - I’m really down to earth and cool, but I rely on my parents to pay my rent and furnish my style.  Oh I know I’m so bitter, but it’s only because the sale price is still completely out of reach!  And thus the category “Pining Week To Date”.

Ok - working there definitely made me a biased Ralph lover for life - but c’mon this jacket is gorgeous! I haven’t actually been wearing too many jackets, but my girls in the NE say I need to address the fact that winter is happening and I’m missing it this year. Tear.

A close replica of this jacket is hard to find…yet - but there are enough jackets with ruffle & peplum detailing to hold you over until it’s at the closest H&M. (For me, sadly, that would be the next plane ride home).

FYI - Commes des Garcons goes live at H&M November 13th!
